Provisional label removed: Strickland named troop fire chief – LaGrange Daily News
The Troup County Board of Commissioners said in a press release Thursday that Acting Fire Chief Michael Strickland has been appointed Troup County Fire Chief.
Strickland has been Acting Fire Chief since October 2021 and Director of the Emergency Management Agency (EMA) since January 2021. He holds numerous certifications in Fire, EMS and Emergency Management including National Professional Qualification Firefighter 1 and 2 , Aerial and Pumper Operator, Fire Inspector 1, Fire Instructor 1 and 2, and Fire Officer 1, 2, 3 and 4. He is also a Georgia State Paramedic and Nationally Registered Paramedic.
Prior to joining Troup County, Strickland served in the Fayette County Fire Department / EMS in a variety of roles, including Assistant Fire Marshal, Fire Lieutenant and Fire Chief. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Fire Science from Columbia Southern University, where he graduated with Distinction, and has resided in Troup County, Ga., Since 2017.

I sincerely appreciate the faith and support shown to me by Mr. Mosley and all members of the Troup County Council of Commissioners in appointing me to this important position, ”said Strickland. “Being appointed Fire Chief is the pinnacle of a firefighter’s career and I have dedicated my career to pursuing the education, training and experience to prepare myself. I plan to work with all members of the Troup County Fire Department to improve communication within the department, seek ways to improve operations and procedures, operate cost effectively, and provide superior service to all. citizens and visitors of Troup County.
As the Fire Chief, he will be responsible for the planning, administration and direction of county fire and emergency management operations; plan and implement long and short term departmental goals and priorities; develop and implement department policies and procedures; and directing the organization, administration and operations of the Emergency Management Agency and the Emergency Operations Center.
