Vlogger surrenders to police – The Hindu

Suraj Palakkaran, a vlogger, surrendered to police in Ernakulam Town South on Friday after the High Court rejected his request for early bail.

He was booked on the basis of a complaint from a woman who accused him of portraying her in a bad light on his online portal. He was also convicted under the relevant sections of the Scheduled Castes Act and the Scheduled Tribes (Atrocity Prevention) Act,

Fire at the service center

A fire broke out at a car service center in Thrikkakara on Friday around 2.30pm.

A car in the center had caught fire supposedly because of a short circuit. The fire then spread causing damage worth around ₹10 lakh, fire officials said.

It took firefighters about an hour and a half to bring the fire under control. A unit from Thrikkakara, Eloor and Gandhi Nagar fire stations extinguished the fire.

A man was arrested on Friday for allegedly assaulting a migrant. The arrest has been identified as Eldhose Thomas, 24, from Adimali. The incident happened in a bar on Thursday evening. The accused allegedly injured the victim’s hand with a blade.

A man arrested for theft

Ernakulam North police on Friday arrested a man accused of stealing a mobile phone. The arrest was identified as Ashkar, 22, from Kasaragod district. The accused allegedly stole the phone of an employee of a tea stall near Kaloor metro station.
